The Leuven Centre for Global Governance Studies is an inter-faculty interdisciplinary research centre of excellence of the Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Leuven which conducts research in relation to globalization, governance processes and multilateralism . The Institute for International Lawgroups the teaching and research in public international law and the law of international organizations at the Faculty of Law of the University of Leuven.

The Centre and the Institute are looking for an outstanding junior researcher to conduct research in the area of international economic law and trade law.

Your opportunities
• You conduct independent, fundamental research on a research project in the area of international economic law and trade law.
• You pursue a PhD in law on this topic.
• You are involved in various ad hoc research activities related to international trade law.
• You are employed in a dynamic, international and growing research environment and contribute to its current and future research activities.
• You may be involved in teaching activities from time to time.

Your profile
• You obtained a Master’s degree in law from a leading university with outstanding grades (you must at least have graduated in the top 5% of your class)
• You have a strong interest and demonstrable expertise in international economic law,
preferably international trade law. Prior (academic or practical) experience with international
trade law is a plus. Prior successful participation in an international student moot court in the
field of international economic/trade law is also a plus.
• You have excellent analytical skills, and are able to summarize and present a large amount of information in an intelligent way.
• You are able to organize your own research activities while working as part of a research group ; you are able to handle various tasks at the same time while keeping strict deadlines.
• You have excellent knowledge of English. Other language skills are an asset.
• You are able to efficiently use the most important Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Our offer
We offer an employment as full-time doctoral researcher starting as soon as possible for 1 year, renewable up to 4 years in a dynamic interdisciplinary research environment.
