Trent University - Sociology - Assistant Professor (nine-month limited term)

The Department of Sociology invites applications for a nine-month limited term position at the Assistant Professor level, commencing August 1, 2014 to April 30, 2015 at Trent University in Peterborough. Please note that this position is subject to budgetary approval and is designated as LTA 3.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Sociology, and a demonstrated record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and in research.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach the following required courses :
Introduction to sociology I : critical foundations ; Introduction to sociology II : exploring social life ;

and three of the following :
Classical sociological theory ; Sociology of education ; Sexuality and the social ; Culture and society ; Religion in contemporary societies ; Ethnicity, identity and community ; Advanced sociology of gender.
