The Government of Québec operates more than twenty-five representations worldwide with nine offices in the United States including : New York, Boston, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, San Mateo and Washington. TheQuébec Government Office in Chicagois responsible for developing and promoting business, political and institutional ties between Québec and the American Midwest. The mandates of its Business Development team include : promoting the sectors of excellence of the Québec economy ; developing a large network of contacts in all relevant sectors of business activity ; identifying and facilitating business opportunities for Québec companies in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota.
Summary of Duties
Under the direct supervision of the Québec Government Representative, the ideal candidate directly supports the Economic Affairs Team’s efforts to export Quebec products to the Midwest.
Responsibilities include market research and data entry. Also, facilitating events, helping with client follow-ups and acting as administrative assistant to the Economic Team.
The candidate is also required to support and work with the entire staff at the Québec Délégation in Chicago in the organization of special events. Some travel required for trade shows. The Business Development Assistant will :
Work in cooperation with the Economic team on event programming and execution.
Study trends and news reports in priority sectors, as well as legislation governing the certification and sale of products in the United States
Provide logistical support for events hosted by the Economic Team
Write reports on various economic subjects for the Economic Team
Gather and prepare economic material and information for the Economic Team
Update and develop promotional tools on the internet and other forms of social media in collaboration with the Public Affairs team
Produce marketing materials with the help of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
Develop and maintain relationships with our partners in Quebec and in the Midwest and other Ministries
Perform data entry and maintain database
Help the Economic Team with daily administrative tasks
Education : Bachelor’s preferred
Experience:Minimum of 2 year experience in business development or other relevant experience
Language:Excellent command of French and English (both written and spoken)
Genuine interest in business development and marketing
Works well with others and has a positive attitude
Knowledge of Adobe InDesign and Illustrator a plus
